This application was developed based on the Clinical HIV-associated Neuropathy Tool (CHANT). CHANT is a clinical diagnostic instrument that provides user-friendly, rapid, simple, and accurate clinical diagnosis of HIV-associated sensory neuropathy (HIV-SN). HIV-SN is the most common neurological condition among HIV patients, and it presents with significant pain and suffering. HIV-SN remains to be an ongoing challenge in the management of HIV patients. CHANT was developed to be used by clinicians and primary care providers alike. CHANT was validated and field-tested against rigorous biological neuropathy criteria involving quantitative sensory testing and nerve fiber density. The research on the development, validation, and field-testing of CHANT was conducted over a period of 2 years. The CHANT app takes five minutes to conduct and it can be used to diagnose and monitor HIV-SN in an accurate manner. The CHANT app is also suitable for research purposes.
